Frequently Asked Questions

How do I book a tour?

Send an enquiry through the contact form, WhatsApp, or email with your preferred dates, group size, and tour of interest. A confirmation is typically sent within 24 hours of receiving the request.

What is included in the tour price?

  • Guiding services for the full duration of the tour
  • Local insider tips and recommendations
  • Bottled water or basic refreshments (where applicable)
  • Public transport (bus, road tram, MTR, Star Ferry)

Admission tickets, meals, private taxis, Peak Tram tickets, Lantau cable car tickets and shopping are generally not included and are paid for separately on the day.

Do children get a discount?

  • Kids under 18 years join all tours completely free of charge
  • This applies to both walking tours and car tours

What payment methods do you accept?

  • Cash in HKD (Hong Kong dollars) or USD (US dollars)
  • Bank transfer
  • Walking tours: no advance payment required – settle the balance on the day of the tour.
  • Car tours: an advance payment is required to confirm the booking.

What is your cancellation policy?

  • Cancellations made well in advance are handled flexibly, with no penalty, for all tours.
  • For car tours, since an advance payment has been made, please notify me as early as possible so alternative arrangements can be made.

No-shows without prior notice are not eligible for a refund of any advance payment, consistent with standard industry practice.

Can I be picked up from anywhere for the tours?

Yes, I can pick up guests from the airport, cruise terminal or your hotel at your convenience. I can also drop you off at any of these points at the end of the tour.

Are your tours private or group tours?

All my tours are customised and private only; only the people on your booking will be on the tour.

How many people can join a tour?

In general, for both walking and car tours the maximum group size for a good customised and personal experience would be 6. However, larger groups can be accommodated subject to agreement on a case-by-case basis.

What happens if it rains or there’s a typhoon (T8) or black rainstorm?

Tours proceed as scheduled in light rain with appropriate gear. If Typhoon Signal No. 8 or above, or a Black Rainstorm Warning, is hoisted before the start time of the tour, the tour will be cancelled.

Do you offer airport transfers or cruise terminal pick-up?

Yes, airport and cruise terminal pick-up and drop-off can be arranged as part of a car tour package; please specify your flight details and terminal at the time of booking.

Is cash needed during the tour itself?

Yes, having some Hong Kong dollar cash on hand is recommended for minor purchases, snacks, or local street markets, as many small vendors and market stalls in Hong Kong operate on a cash-only basis.

How far in advance should I book?

Booking as early as possible is recommended, particularly for weekends, public holidays, and the October-to-March high season, when availability fills up quickly. Please check my online calendar for availability, then send me an enquiry through the contact form.

How much walking is involved in a walking tour?

Hong Kong is pretty hilly; roads are not typically flat, but it is very manageable for those with a basic level of fitness. We will maintain a relaxed pace according to the day’s weather and take the ups and downs easily. Note that most routes also require ascending and descending a few flights of steps. If this might be difficult for you, please let me know in the booking enquiry.

What languages are the tours conducted in?

All tours are conducted in English, but I also speak Tamil.

Is outlet shopping included in the tours?

Shopping is not included in any part of the tour unless you specifically request it.

Will dietary restrictions be accommodated during the tours?

Absolutely – there are plenty of food options for everyone to enjoy. Vegetarians, vegans and pescatarians are all well catered for.

What should I bring on a hiking tour?

  • Comfortable hiking shoes or trainers with good grip
  • At least one litre of water per person
  • Sun protection (hat, sunscreen, sunglasses)
  • A light rain jacket, especially during Hong Kong’s humid or rainy months

Do you accept last-minute bookings?

I prefer 24 hours’ notice, but if I am available I will happily take the tour with a few hours’ notice.

Are the tour prices negotiable?

My prices are not negotiable. I deliver customised premium tours to everyone’s fullest satisfaction, with no compromise on quality.
